USAFA Scuba Course
Classes will be arranged by the Outdoor Adventure Program for 5
people per class, and will be held at Underwater Connections, close
to the Academy. Participants must complete all of the classes to
receive certification.
The items and services included in the price:

Connections.
2. Open water instruction at Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
3. One night hotel lodging in Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
4. Park fees at Blue Hole.
5. Use of all necessary equipment for pool and open water sessions.
6. Padi Open Water Manual, Video, and Padi Recreational Dive
Planner, Padi Open Water Emblem.

8. Free use of Underwater Connections on-site pool and use of all

9. Price $289.00 per person. Minimum of 5 customers to make a

Underwater Connections pool.
"The cost of the entire course, including open water instruction at
Blue Hole, is $289," Jason said. "Ordinarily this course, without the
trip to Blue Hole, costs $400."

According to Jason, the Blue Hole is a famous 81 foot deep natural
artesian spring near Santa Rosa, N.M., in the desert east of
Albuquerque, about a 4 � hour drive from Colorado Springs. "It's a
beautiful bell-shaped pool with amazing clarity that delivers about
3,000 gallons of water per minute and remains a constant 64 degree
temperature. The water there is much warmer than scuba diving
water here in Colorado."

"We're very close to one of the best scuba diving locations in the
western U.S.," said Jason West, Outdoor Adventure Program
assistant director. "We're offering scuba courses all winter which
include one night's lodging at the Travelodge in Santa Rosa, N.M.,
and park fees at the famous Blue Hole," he said. "Each scuba course,
which we're conducting in cooperation with Underwater Connections
of Colorado Springs, one of the main scuba facilities in Colorado, is
18 hours total, and concludes with the Blue Hole diving."

3 R's (Rocks, Rips & Reefs)
San Diego Lifeguards, in conjunction with the San Diego Council of
Divers, offer instruction to divers on safe diving practices and area
familiarization along the San Diego coastline. These courses are held

La Jolla Submarine Canyon
A deep submarine canyon is located off La Jolla Shores beach
attracting a large number of divers and diving classes. Two branches
of the canyon come close to shore, one in the swimming area, the
other north of Scripps Pier. Diving here is recommended for
experienced divers only, due to the depth of the canyon.

Ship Wrecks and Artificial Reefs
The ocean off San Diego is home to numerous shipwrecks and
artificial reefs. A boat is necessary to reach these offshore
destinations. Several charter boats offer shark diving in cages in outer
coastal waters. Consult the telephone directory.
